Classic glory for High Chaparral
21st April 2008
A first-crop son of in-form High Chaparral, Senlis (3c High Chaparral-Senebrova, by Warning), ran out of an impressive winner of Europe’s first Classic of 2008 - the G3 Premio Parioli (Italian 2,000 Guineas) - in Rome on Sunday.
The lightly-raced colt, bred by Compagnia Generale SRL, came with a well-timed run to take the Classic by a length and a half and could now head to the G1 French 2,000 Guineas at Longchamp on May 11.
Senlis looks to be a colt on the upgrade and European Bloodstock News wrote: " Coolmore’s magnificent High Chaparral drank from the Classic chalice as a racehorse in the Derbys at both Epsom and the Curragh. Yesterday, he returned to the altar at the first opportunity as a stallion when his son Senlis won the opening Classic of the European season, Capannelle’s Gr.3 Premio Parioli. Out of Warning’s Gr.3 Premio Bagutta victrix Senebrova, Senlis looked a colt of the highest potential as he sealed victory in a matter of strides with a devastating turn of speed."
