Champion sprinter Fastnet Rock continued his dominance over his peers at all the major sales this year in finishing the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as the leading first season sire with 30 yearlings averaging $332,000.Top honours for Fastnet Rock were shared between two outstanding colts that made $800,000 apiece.
Offered for sale by Highgrove Stud as Lot 115, the powerful bay colt from Snippets stakes-winner Fragmentation was knocked down to leading Sydney trainer John Hawkes, while Lot 318, a colt from Group Two winner Rare Insight offered by Orange Grove Thoroughbreds went to Sydney bloodstock agent Steve Brem.
The top filly for Fastnet Rock was the half-sister to triple Group One winner Bentley Biscuit that made $575,000 when secured by BBA Ireland.
