Four wins in five days for red-hot Cat

1st May 2008

A double on Thursday saw first-season sire sensation One Cool Cat enjoy four winners in five days after the Mel Brittain-trained Knavesmire (2f One Cool Cat-Carribean Escape, by Pivotal) landed a Redcar maiden and Mister Ghiaccio (2c One Cool Cat-Mauricienne, by Green Tune) made a winning debut over 1,100 metres in Milan.

Knavesmire, bred by Michael O’Mahony, had finished third in the Brocklesby Stakes on her racecourse debut and scored easily by half a length under Tyrone Williams.

"The Brocklesby was very good form and I thought she was a certainty at Newcastle last time but she didn’t jump out and hung through the race," Williams told Racing UK.

"She had a little break and came back today nice and fresh and showed she could do it. She’ll be better when she’s given a lead with horses to chase, the race was run in a good time on the ground and I think the second is a very nice horse."

Mister Ghiaccio, bred by Scuderia Tamara, pipped his stablemate Sir Force to make a winning start to his career.

Knavesmire and Mister Ghiaccio’s victories came 24 hours after Baycat landed an Ascot conditions event and followed a success for the William Jarvis-trained Smokey Storm on Sunday.

Meanwhile, bookmakers Cashmans cut One Cool Cat to 2/1 favouritism (from 5/2) to land the 2008 first-season sires’ championship after Thursday.
