Juvenile Stakes-Winner for Tale of the Cat

3rd May 2008

Talented juvenile colt Cat D’Antibes (2c Tale of the Cat x What Fun, by Canny Lad) maintained his unbeaten record when capturing the Listed Ken Russell Classic at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

A winner on debut at Doomben on April 12, the Gillian Heinrich trained Cat D’Antibes stepped straight up to Listed company for this 1200 metre assignment and after travelling in third place throughout swept to the lead and dashed clear to win by a length and a half.

A $140,000 purchase for Heinrich Bloodstock from the draft of Carramar Park at the 2007 Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Cat D’Antibes is the second living foal of the metropolitan winning mare What Fun.

Cat D’Antibes is the 45th stakes-winner worldwide for successful shuttle sire Tale of the Cat, who was forced to return to America prematurely last spring after covering just 22 mares in Australia.
