Choisir Filly Emulates Her Sire

3rd May 2008

Former champion sprinter Choisir captured the rich Inglis Classic Race in 2002 and featured this year as the sire of the winner when his two year-old daughter Miss Independent (2f Choisir x Bomba, by Last Tycoon) claimed the $350,000 feature at Randwick on Saturday.

Ridden superbly by Nash Rawiller from barrier two, Miss Independent improved from her debut third at Canterbury on April 23 to score a narrow but convincing win in the 1200 metre event for graduates of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Trained by Chris Waller for a Triple Crown Syndications Syndicate, Miss Independent (pictured in the red Triple Crown colours) was purchased for $65,000 from the draft of Southern Cross Breeders at the 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

Miss Independent is a full sister to smart stakes-placed three year-old Malambo and is the third foal of the Last Tycoon mare Bomba, a daughter of stakes-winner Palm Beach Babe from the family of Group One winner Tempest Morn.

Miss Independent continues the great winning run being enjoyed by Choisir who is the leading second season sire in Australia by individual winners.
