New Group Three Winner for Montjeu

Fresh from siring the winner of the Group One AJC Australian Derby in Nom du Jeu, Montjeu has continued his good Australian form with another smart stakes-winner in Fulmonti (5g Montjeu x Grosvenor's Pride, by Grosvenor) .The Chris Jordan trained five year-old took out the Group Three BTC Chairman’s Handicap over 2020 metres at Doomben on Saturday, proving too strong at the post to defeat Diamondsondinside by half a length .
An improving stayer with seven wins and 12 placings from 33 starts and prizemoney of $305,100, Fulmonti should be well placed in the long distance events in Brisbane over the next few months.
A $100,000 purchase from the 2004 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Mapperley Stud, Fulmonti is a half-brother to Group Three winner Pride of the Class being from the Grosvenor mare Grosvenor’s Pride, a half-sister to the dam of former brilliant sprinter Pembleton.
A leading sire in Europe, Montjeu shuttled to Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand for a number of seasons, his last crop of Kiwi bred youngsters now two year-olds.
