Grand Slam Colt Breaks Maiden Handily at Churchill

Shive's Success (Grand Slam -- Cauy, by Maria's Mon) broke his maiden at second asking Thursday at Churchill Downs. The three-year-old colt, second in his debut race, cruised to a three-length maiden special weight victory in the one mile turf contest. Shive's Success, owned and bred by Dixiana Stables, was unhurried through the first half mile, then advanced steadily, swinging four wide into the stretch and drawing well clear in the final furlong for the win.
