French Stakes-Winner for Giant’s Causeway

Leading North American sire Giant’s Causeway featured in France at the weekend when Pointilliste (5h Giant’s Causeway x Peinture Bleue, by Alydar) won the Prix Rene Bedel at Lyon-Parilly over 2400 metres.A half-brother to champion racehorse and successful sire Peintre Celebre, Pointilliste scored a tenacious neck victory over Libertador with some three and a half lengths back to the third horse.
It was the first Black Type success for the Elie Lellouche trained Pointilliste, a home bred for the Wildenstein family, whose overall record is three wins and seven placings from 10 starts.
An exceptional racehorse in Europe where he won six Group One races before travelling to North America to finish second in the Breeders Cup at Churchill Downs, Giant’s Causeway is now one of the leading stallions in North America with seven stakes-winners so far this season.
Tough and versatile, his stock have proven adept on turf and dirt led this year by Heatseeker, winner of the Group One Santa Anita Handicap and a host of smart performers such as Giant Gizmo, Carriage Trail, Cowboy Cal, Giant Moon, etc.
