$310,000 for Oratorio Colt

29th May 2008

A cracking colt from the first crop of Danehill’s triple Group One winning son Oratorio made a big splash at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on Thursday when sold for $310,000.

Bred and offered for sale by Ilala Stud as Lot 530, the star colt was knocked down to Belmont Bloodstock and is the second foal of the Filante mare Mistress Lili.

A half-sister to former outstanding galloper Defier, a triple Group One winner 10 races and $2.9 million in prizmoney, Mistress Lili comes from the family of champion filly Triscay.

Oratorio was the leading first season sire at this sale by average with eight babies averaging $63,375.
