Amped Breaks Maiden at Belmont

30th May 2008

Amped (Fusaichi Pegasus -- Sweet Sarah, by Deputy Minister) graduated by a neck in a maiden special weight at Belmont on Thursday. The three-year-old colt, owned by Robert LaPlenta and bred by LaPlenta and trainer Nick Zito, was unhurried early in the one-mile contest, getting a rail skimming trip until the stretch. Angling out, he found himself boxed in, but overcame the traffic under strong urging to win by a neck. Amped has finished on the board in all five of his career starts.
