Lion Heart -- Johannesburg Exacta at Churchill
30th May 2008
Lion Heart picked up the sixth winner of his freshman campaign at Churchill Downs on Thursday when Cameron Crazies held off Johannesburg's Ride On Josephine by a nose.
Cameron Crazies (2f Lion Heart -- D Hail Mary, by Defensive Play) was well-placed in third before grabbing command in the stretch in the five-furlong maiden special weight test.
Still, the two-year-old filly had to fight to hold off a strong rally from Ride On Josephine (2f Johannesburg -- Running Debate, by Open Forum) to win at the wire.
Cameron Crazies, owned by Bobby Hurley's Devil Eleven Stable and bred by Majestic Farms, was coming off of a promising second-place debut at Keeneland on April 25, where she finished just behind Pride, another Lion Heart daughter.
Ride on Josephine is owned by Blue Devil Racing Stable and bred by Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings.
