Rising Star for Tale of the Cat

Promising filly Tale of the West (3f Tale of the Cat x Western Dreamer, by Gone West) was honoured with a TDN Rising Star tag after bolting away to win at Belmont on Thursday.

A runaway seven length winner on debut at Keeneland on April 20, the Todd Pletcher trained filly maintained her unbeaten record in coasting home to win this six furlong allowance by four and a half lengths.

A $160,000 purchase from the Fasig Tipton August Yearling Sale, Tale of the West is raced by Gulf Coast Farms and is a half-sister to five winners including Group Three placed White Socks. A daughter of leading sire Gone West, her dam Western Dreamer is a stakes-winner and was good enough to place in the Group One Spinaway Stakes.
