Queen Anne Triumph for Haradasun

17th June 2008

A new member of the Coolmore stallion roster was also in winning form at Royal Ascot. Last season's champion Australian three year-old colt Haradasun (4h Fusaichi Pegasus-Circles Of Gold, by Marscay) showed his true colours on Tuesday with a thrilling win over glamour mares Darjina and Finsceal Beo in the G1 Queen Anne Stakes.

Ridden perfectly by Johnny Murtagh, the son of Fusaichi Pegasus prevailed by a neck to claim the third G1 win of his career in taking his overall record to seven wins and eight placings from 18 starts.

"He's very natural, this fellow. He came to us in October or November last year and although he took a bit of time to acclimatise, from day one he was always naturally very fast, very quick and a great cruiser. He settles and quickens and you can see why everyone was so excited about him in Australia," said trainer Aidan O'Brien.

"He's very courageous. Johnny was very convinced about that and he said that if he got to the front at all he would stay there. He looked like a horse that would get a mile and a quarter today but we entered him in the sprints here later in the week so he's very versatile."

Haradasun, a half-brother to champion Elvstroem, is retiring to Coolmore Australia for the 2008 season at a fee of $55,000.
